This Case History covers a system of explosion proof parts washers built for a government aviation teardown facility. The customer had to remove a variety of contaminants including greases, oils and carbon and apply rust inhibitor as required for the alloy(s). Military specifications required some of the parts to be processed with low flash point solvent and others to be processed using alkaline detergents.
Each machine is explosion proof and fully automatic. The operator simply loads a basket of dirty parts onto the work platform and starts the cycle with a pushbutton. The elevator descends into the processing zone and the cover closes. An explosion proof digital timer controls the cycle. An explosion proof digital temperature controller and steam heating system is incorporated into each aqueous washer. Roller conveyor platforms and connecting sections are provided for easy transfer between stages.
